Goal & Process
Improving Presentation
The Goal: The hardest-to-adopt dogs often face longer stays in rescues due to poor presentation and unclear signage. The primary objective of this project was to remove those friction points by creating clean, professional online and in-person assets that immediately connected potential adopters with each dog's story.
The Process: The workflow began in Adobe Photoshop, where I developed a retouching process to transform raw rescue photos into cohesive studio-quality portraits. From there, I transitioned to Adobe Illustrator to build structured, print-ready enclosure cards that outlined rescues' personalities and critical adoption information. Finally, I optimized the asset library for web delivery to populate the digital adoption portal and "Happy Tails" feature pages.

Impact
Increasing Adoption Potential
Professional presentation is often the difference between a dog being overlooked or adopted. By transforming raw photos into quality visual assets and designing modern, informative enclosure cards, this project increased the visibility of the rescue dogs in the program, giving them a better chance at being adopted. The professional and cohesive presentation of these rescues built immediate trust with prospective owners, driving higher engagement on the website and in physical facility walk-throughs.

Reflection
Working on Costikyan Cares further developed my understanding that professional presentation isn’t just about aesthetics or clean branding, but that it can be a powerful tool for advocacy. Seeing how a professional display could instantly change the perception of a rescue dog proved to me that design has the power to rewrite a narrative, build immediate trust, and turn passive viewers into active adopters.
